Are you looking for an easy way to refresh your home?

Try starting with your walls. The right wall decor can bring a home together, display your unique tastes, and create interesting dimensions within your home.

Below are 6 creative ways to refresh your wall decor.

Art

As many of you know I collect art, so it’s no surprise that it’s my number one way to bring a unique and individual design inside your home.

Here are a few ideas to get you started:

Buy local: There are tons of amazing local artists, especially in the Atlanta area. Go to local art festivals and galleries to find one that fits your style and taste.

Statement piece: An oversized piece is a great way to make a wall stand out without being overpowering. It also works well in smaller spaces.

Gallery wall: if you already have collection of art, creating a gallery wall is a great way to uniquely display it. You can have a structured symmetric display or a more free-flowing gallery. You can also play with the frames to create a unique look.

Plants

Plants are always a great option to freshen up a space. One fun and interesting way to incorporate plants into your wall decor is by building a plant wall.

You can do this by creating a wall design with hanging baskets or even shelves. Trailing plants like pothos work great or mix and match with bushy & trailing plants.

You can also use a company like Wallygro to buy planters specifically designed for plant walls.

Bonus: indoor plants have some great health benefits!

Lighting

I talked about lighting in my last article on design trends, it was more focused on smart lighting.

Incorporating smart lighting into a beautiful sculptural sconce can really set a unique design atmosphere.

West elm has some great options for sconce lighting or you can check out Etsy for something really unique and handcrafted.

Texture & objects

Creating texture and depth on walls can help shape the dimensions of a room. There are many different options but two of my favorites are mirrors and tapestries.

Mirrors are excellent for smaller spaces because they can make the space appear larger and can add depth and brightness.

Tapestries can add and unique art feel and add color to a room. Look for some interesting displays like macrame or unique woven fabric pieces. A cool bonus is that larger tapestries can provide some noise reduction.

Recreation

Use your recreation as art. This is a great option for smaller spaces as it provides an artful storage option.

Vintage bicycles or skateboards provide an excellent look. The only caveat is that you will want to keep the equipment clean if you use it frequently.

Find a nicely designed bike rack like this one at CB2 to display your vintage bike.

Travel

Do you love to travel? If so, a large and uniquely designed world map is a timeless option for wall art.

Get inspired by some of these ideas on Pinterest and check out Etsy for some unique options, then kick back and see all the cool places you’ve been and dream about all the places you want to go!

In conclusion, I hope this inspires you with some ideas to make your wall space stand out, create balance and showcase your unique and creative tastes.
