Spring rapidly approaching and we are entering one of the busiest times of year for residential real estate.

So to give buyers a starting point on their search this spring, I will provide an overview of the 5 most sought-after neighborhoods of intown Atlanta.

I chose these neighborhoods due to their walkability, proximity to the Eastside Trail of the Beltline, retail development, and availability of good restaurants and gathering spaces. Outside of the home itself, these attractions are some of the top priorities clients seek out when searching for a home intown.

Midtown

Midtown is one of the most desirable locations in Atlanta due to its proximity to Piedmont Park. Midtown has everything you would want from living in an urban area. Residents enjoy walking and biking to some of the city’s best restaurants and cultural sites. 

What to do:

There is never a shortage of activities throughout the year, from the Dogwood Arts Festival to concerts like Music Midtown. Midtown is home to the Woodruff Arts Center, which is home to Atlanta Symphony Hall and the High Museum of Art.

Inman Park

Inman Park is a unique neighborhood with beautiful victorian homes and modern condos and lofts. Residents enjoy easy access to the Eastside trail and is home to the famous Krog Street Market.

What to do:

Like Midtown, there is no shortage of activities and festivals. Residents have some of the best of Beltline living with easy access right at Krog Market and the Krog district. You can experience festivals and neighborhood activities throughout the year, like the Inman Park Festival.

Old Fourth Ward

Old Fourth Ward had seen remarkable renovation over the last several years, creating some beautiful urban-style lofts and condos. The Beltline and Ponce City Market highlight the unique living opportunity within the neighborhood. There are also some excellent parks and historical sites.

What to do:

Old Fourth Ward sits on the East Side trail, and there are abundant beltline activities available for residents as well as easy access to Piedmont Park. There are plenty of festivals and concerts, such as the arts festival and the Shaky Knees Music Festival.

Virginia Highland

Virginia Highland is a cozy urban neighborhood with treelined streets and craftsman-style homes. It has a bustling nightlife that serves many of the students who live in the area and attend Emory. There is something for everyone though with a blend of families and students living in the neighborhood.

What to do:

There is plenty to do in Virginia Highland throughout the year. It sits on the Eastside trail, so you have access to all the Beltline activities plus close proximity to Piedmont Park. There are many excellent restaurants to choose from and festivals like Summerfest. They also have a fun and vibrant retail area.

Glenwood Park

Glenwood Park is a beautifully designed neighborhood that has seen demand significantly increase over the past several years. This demand is due to its modern and green development of retail space, popular restaurants, and green space and connection to the Beltline.

What to do:

Glenwood Park has an excellent and growing restaurant and retail presence. Residents enjoy easy access to the Southside Trail of the Beltline and proximity to Grant Park activities.

As you can see, urban living is pretty spectacular in Atlanta and continues to evolve. With the continuing growth of the Beltline, Intown Atlanta has become one of the most walkable and active communities of neighborhoods in the country.
